my plan of spring break
Spring break is coming soon. I’m really looking forward it. Actually, I’m
broke so I can’t plan a long trip during spring break, so I’m planning to go
skiing and learning how to drive. For this reason, I can’t wait for this spring
break.
My plans for spring vacation
Kyung Jin Park
My plans for spring vacation
I have some plans for spring vacation.
First, I'll goof off this weekend at home because I've been busy and feeling tired since I started going to college so I need to take a rest.
Second, I'm going to go to a Korean hair shop in New Jersey to get a haircut because I like shorter hair than now.
Third, I'm going to go to the Woodberry common outlet to buy my backpack and my son's sneakers. I've already shopped for my backpack around my village but I didn't find the one I like, so I'm going to go to the Woodberry common outlet.
Fourth, maybe I'll go to the China town in Flushing. My Chinese friend suggested to my Japanese friend and me. I've never been to the China town so I accepted her suggestion with pleasure.
Fifth, most importantly, I'll take care of my younger son because he's going to get his four wisdom teeth out on Wednesday March, 27. After taking out his wisdom teeth, maybe he'll have to eat only soft foods for a few days so I'll cook the foods for my younger son.
In sum, I hope I can do all of my spring vacation plans.
Should students be allowed to use cellphone in class?
Kyung JIn Park
Should students be allowed to use cellphone in class?
I think students shouldn't be allowed to use cell phones in class. The reason is first, students can't concentrate on their class so they'll get a lower grade. Second, they will bother other students' concentration. Third, they will bother the teacher's teaching.
First, if students use cellphones, they can't concentrate on their class. Some students choose to mute their cellphones and they text to their friends during all class time. They don't listen to their teacher. I think concentrating is important to get good grades so maybe they'll get low grades. Therefore students shouldn't be allowed to use cellphones in their class.
Second, students using cellphones in their class will bother the other students' concentration. Students who sit next to the students using cellphones maybe are angry or interested in them so they also don't concentrate on their teacher. Therefore students shouldn't be allowed to use cellphones in their class because students using cellphones in their class will bother the other students.
Third, students using cellphones in their class will bother the teacher's teaching. If all students concentrate on their teacher's speaking, the teacher will have a happy mind so they will teach eagerly. In contrast, if students don't look at the teachers when they speak to students, maybe teachers feel bad so they won't teach hard. Thus students shouldn't be allowed to use cellphones in their classroom because they will bother the teachers' teaching.
In sum, I think most students don't control themselves so students shouldn't be allowed to use cellphones in their class.
My plane
Abdul
My friends and we are planning to
go to New York City on the spring break. However I was thinking to go to
Paterson and Atlantic city.
First of all, we are going to New
York City. And I’m going to visit one of my friend who is studying there.
After, I’m going to see The Central Park. And I’m probably going shopping in
Manhattan.
Second, I’m going to Paterson. It’s
a city in New Jersey State. It has many Arabian restaurants. I’m trying the
food up there. And I might going shopping from Arabian stores.
Third, I’m going to Atlantic city.
It’s also in New Jersey State. I’m just going there to enjoy The Six Flags with
my friends. It’s the most wonderful a Museum Park in the world. And I will
probably hed up to the beach over there.
In conclusion, I hope to enjoy the
plane that we set it up, and I hope everything will be fine. I wish to all of
my classmates will enjoy during the spring break. God willing.
Students should never use cell phones in classes
Abdul
Students should never use
cell phones in classes. Students should focus on teachers, Some times cell
phones are useful in classes, and some teachers think that is misbehaver.
First when students use
the cell phones in classes they focus on the cell phones not on teachers .
Students need to focus on their work with teachers to understand what happened
in the classes. Cell phones are not necessary in classes because it makes
students don’t focus in classes.
Second
technology it’s important for some students. For example ,in E.S.L classes use
dictionary on the cell phones. And some students in Math classes use the
calculator .So there is some use for technology in classes.
Third some teachers think that’s misbehaviour to them. Some teachers
might think it’s rude. And the others think it’s ok. So it depends on teachers.
Therefore different teachers have different attitudes about cell phones.
Therefore students should pay attention to teachers not to cell phones.
However students may use cell phone, if they are using a dictionary or
calculator on the cell phone. In my opinion students should never use cell phones
in classes, and if they want to use it they should ask the teachers permission.
A plan for Spring Break
Xin Jiang
Spring break is coming. I'm so excited because I already made a "friends vacation plan" for that. We are going to the South Beach and watch a NBA basketball match in Miami. We will also go to the Disney Land and Universal Studios in Orlando.
The first day that we come to Miami, my friends and I will watch a NBA basketball match. The "Miami Heat" is one of my favorite NBA basketball team. I hope that I can see an amazing basketball match. The second day, my friends and I will go to the South Beach. We will enjoy the sunshine and swimming. I like to feel the warm air on my skin. That's so comfortable. The third day, my friends and I will go to the downtown in Miami, I will buy some souvenirs for my friends. Finally, we will finish the Miami trip and start the Orlando trip.
The first day that we come to Orlando, we will visit the Disneyland. I like cartoon about Disney animals so much, so I believe that I will like there. The second day, my friends and I will go to the Universal Studios. We will catch a glance our favorite actor and stroll along Rodeo Drive. Finally, we will finish the Orlando trip and come back to New Paltz.
In sum I will have an awesome vacation and it will give me a deep impression. I can not wait to start my vacation.

We should allow students use cell phones during the class
Xin Jiang
I think we
should allow students to use cell phones in class. Cell phones are modern
communication tool which can help students to find information quickly, make them study easier, and make them study more lively.
First,
students need cell phones because it can quickly find information that the
teacher might not tell them. For example, some teachers think that knowledge is
not important. They will not explain everything in details during the class. In
this case, students can quickly use their cell phone and to find information to
help them know that. So it is good for student study.
Second, students need cell phone because it can make student study easier. Fox example, students can use a dictionary to translate when they don't know some words. In this case, students could use a dictionary and help them to understand. So it is easier for students study.
Finally,
students need cell phones because it can make their study more lively. For example, their
teacher talked about student's childhood or an unforgettable day. In this case,
students could take cell phones and show their picture to classmates and teachers,
which could make class more interesting. So it is livelier for students study.
Hence we'd come to the conclusion that students use cell phones in class can have more advantages than disadvantages. It can help students to find information quickly, make them study easier, and make them study more lively. So I approve of students using cell phones in class.

Should student uses smart phone during the class?
Qiqi
Nowadays, technology is developing very
quickly, and everyone uses a smart phone. However, I think students shouldn't
be allowed to use their smart phone in class. This is bad for the learning
experience for three reasons: it is lack of their thinking, distracting, and it
is a bad manner.
First, using a smart phone in class is
distracting. The electronic dictionary is a useful piece of technology on the
smart phones that international students like to use in class. Actually,
international students usually use their own language-English dictionaries
instead of normal dictionaries. This is not helpful for studying English
because using normal dictionaries can to think and understand which vocabulary
you don’t know in English. Also some smart phone have games, so when a student
is bored, they will play those games in class. So I think students shouldn't
use their smart phone in class because it is distracting. They might play games
instead of paying attention to the teacher.
Second, using a smart phone to search for
answers in class causes a lack of thinking ability. Students won’t listen to
the teacher and think by themselves, so they will make them lack of thinking.
They might search everything they want online. Therefore, I think students
shouldn't use technology in class because it is lack of their thinking.
The third, using smart phone in class is
not good manners. Mostly students like to use smart phone in class to chat with
friends and play games. They might not look at the textbook or don’t answer the
teacher’s questions. It is not good manners.
In sum, if a student uses a smart phone in
the classroom, it is distracting, lack of their thinking and it is not a good
manner. The classroom is a place of study and it needs to stay that way. This
manner is a disadvantage for students. I think students shouldn't be allowed to
use a smart phone in class.

Today's Visit to the Library
Today we visited the Sojourner Truth Library to learn how to search and locate books. Matthew Laudicina, our librarian, guided us through the lesson.
We started in the computer lab. Matthew showed us the catalog on the Library Website and explained the difference between Basic Search and Advanced Search. It was really helpful to be led through the steps of searching online.
Next, we each searched the catalog for a book of our own choice (by title or by subject), and wrote down the call number. Some of us used our phones to take a picture of the call number on the computer screen. Matthew then led us to the Young Adult section were we could search for our books. It was difficult at first, but we all finally found our books! Kyung Jin was first to find her book -- good job! She said that the library system in Korea is the same as the U.S. so she was familiar with the process. It is still good practice for all of us as everything is in English.
After we all located our books, Matthew brought us back to the computer lab to search the catalog for DVDs. Abdul suggested we look up the movie "Troy" so we all searched that on the catalog together. Once we found Troy together, everyone searched another DVD. Most of us searched by title. Again, with call numbers in hand, we went back to the shelves. Everyone was a lot quicker to locate their DVD this time.
We learned some useful skills today at the library and are becoming experts at this! Next time we visit the library, we will search in other sections. See you then!
